Espace Privé

Les cinq photos exposées font partie de quatre séries, très privées, de mon approche initiale à la Médina de Sfax.

Partant d’immeubles de bureaux occidentaux, modernes et annonymes qui servent de contrepartie à la Médina, le regard l’approche d’abord dans un format de paysage, d’images panoramiques. Bougeant à travers plusieurs allées originales et authentiques, qui n’ont pas encore été transfigurées par le tourisme, et à travers les souks qui sont partiellement adaptés à l’architecture du 20e siècle, le regard est attiré à ce qu’il y a derrière les murs.

Traversant les atriums des maisons qui sont en rénovation, le visiteur entre dans la partie intime de la Médina et, donc, trouve son chemin dans plusieurs espaces privés de ses résidents. Images souvent refusées au public.

Private Space

The five photos displayed, originate from the most private of initially four series of my approach to the Medina of Sfax.

Starting with western, modern, anonymous office buildings serving as a counterpart of the Medina, one’s view approaches it initially in landscape format, panoramic images. Moving through various, original, genuinely grown alleys that have not yet been transfigured by tourism, and through Souks adjusted partly to 20th century architecture, one’s view is then being drawn behind the walls.

Traversing atriums of houses that are being renovated, the viewer enters the innermost part of the Medina, and thus, finds his way into various private living areas of the residents. – Images often denied to the public.
